The waveguide ring coupler achieves coupling by opening coupling holes in the common wall of the primary and secondary waveguides, which couple the electromagnetic energy in the primary waveguide to the secondary waveguide with a certain directionality. The directivity of the waveguide ring coupler is controlled by the size, shape and position of the coupling holes, and these parameters determine the magnitude of the output power at each port of the sub-waveguide. Waveguide ring coupler is used in radar, communication and other systems for directional transmission of signals, transceiver duplex, so that transceiver signals are isolated from each other, and transceivers can share the same antenna.
